Bringing Forward the Best Creative Practices

Updated: Sep 12, 2018

Creative Finland organized a meeting for the Creative Expertise ESF projects, where we got acquainted with some of the finest and most knowledgeable creative industries projects. During the meeting, it became quite clear that creative players challenge everyone to open-minded thinking and to finding alternative solutions. They also have the ability to renew and meet the challenges of the time.

Currently 17 Creative Expertise ESF projects are underway, of which Creative Finland is a co-ordination project. Creative Finland is a platform for creative competence that brings forward the best practices from Finland and around the world. The key objectives of the activity are communication about and advocating for the creative industries. Creative Finland brings together actors and networks and seeks to combine their different skills. Our goal is not modest, but as a network we can reach goals: How do we build one of the world's best creative competence concentrations in Finland; how do we boost Finnish industries to more effectively utilize creative problem-solving skills; and how do we communicate it as stories.

Need for encounters

The representatives of eight projects met on August 21, 2018 to present their projects and to network. Several participants raised an important goal of their own project: how the creative skills play a significant role in solving societal challenges and building a sustainable society.

The Creative Expertise network meeting also showed how important it is to meet face to face, share experiences and discuss with other players. Some of the projects have been running for a long time and some have just started their work. We found out that some of the projects have a lot in common and thus a great chance of sparring each other. Thanks to all of the participants!

Meetings will continue in the autumn

Do not worry in case you missed the first meeting, as the Creative Expertise network meetings will continue in the autumn. The second meeting will be held on September 19 in Helsinki.

In addition, the participating projects will be invited to the LIFT – New Dimensions of Media, Arts and Culture event for media, arts and culture on October 17-18 at the Cable Factory in Helsinki. LIFT provides opportunities and possibilities: meeting those engaged in creative arts and media, hearing domestic and international speakers as well as testing new ideas and finding new views and experiences. See you there!
